This heart healthy lemonade is perfect for a refreshing drink on a hot summer day - or anytime. Anytime, because of the high health benefits of lemons.
Lemons are considered one of the "super foods" for all their many health benefits. For the heart, lemons help lower blood pressure and increases the levels of HDL (good cholesterol). Lemons are also an antioxidant which deactivates the free radicals and may help prevent stroke and cardiovascular diseases.
1 cup sugar (if desired reduce to 3/4 cup or for tarter reduce to 1/2 cup)
1 cup water
1 cup lemon juice
3 to 4 cups cold water (for diluting)
Remember the starting proportions - 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water, and 1 cup of lemon juice.
Heat the sugar and water in a small saucepan until the sugar is dissolved completely.
